Highlights of 2011 include Kiteival - The British Kite Surfing Championships, taking place at Ayr’s Low Green in September. This year this event will include a special Sportsfest Finale where adults and kids of all ages and abilities can come and try a multitude of different sports.
September is a great month for wind and watersports as Scottish Windfest shall also come to Troon beach this month combining the best of wind sports action with live music, family attractions and more. Both events are a must for participants and spectators alike.
Experience the competition and camaraderie of Ayrshire’s Summer Golf Festival. Taking place from June to September each year, competitors from all over the world enjoy playing their game in Ayrshire, the home of open golf.
If cycling is your sport then the Graham Obree Classic Sportive takes cyclists of all levels across many of the routes Obree himself trained on as a youngster. Or if you prefer to walk, don’t miss the picturesque scenery of The Carrick Way Walking Festival.
Ayr of course boasts Scotland’s Premier Racetrack with a year round calendar of events including the Scottish Grand National and William Hill Ayr Gold Cup.
Finally for fun and competition in abundance, The Prestwick Games is a brand new sporting event with opportunities for team participation and spectators to enjoy an unforgettable day out.
